Laser Resurfacing
General Information: laser resurfacing is a procedure to remove the fine lines created on the skin by sun damage or aging and to smooth or remove scars created by acne or trauma. The laser creates a controlled burn that literally peels away the damaged skin and replaces it with fresh collagen and elastin. At your consultation the appropriateness of laser resurfacing and its effectiveness as well as the risks and the need for pre-operative skin program will be discussed.
Length of Surgery: 1 Hour
Location: Accredited Surgery Center or Hospital
Anesthesia: General or local with sedation
Recovery Time: The patient can usually return to work in 1 week
depending on the individual.
Exercise and strenuous activity may be done at 3 to 4
weeks following surgery.
Post Operative Results: Each patient heals differently; however following the surgery patients
may experience temporary pain, swelling, possible bruising, soreness and fatigue. The face may be a little pink and will fade with time.
It has been our experience that patients are very happy with their post
op results and their new look.
Helpful Hints: Be in good mental and physical health. Do Not Smoke. Help improve healing
by taking pre and postoperative vitamins. Improve the appearance of the post operative skin with skin care designed specifically for this purpose.
