Breast Reduction
General Information: The breast reduction or reduction mammoplasty is a procedure to reduce the size of large pendulous breasts and create smaller more youthful appearing breasts. Women frequently choose this operation because of severe back, neck and shoulder aches created by the large size of their breasts and it is often covered by insurance. As with the Breast Lift operation there are several different techniques and incisions that can be used to reduce the breasts. My goal is to give my patients the prettiest breasts with the smallest incisions possible. At your consultation that procedure, which will give the best overall appearance to your breasts, will be determined and the risks discussed.
Length of Surgery: 3 to 5 Hours
Location: Accredited Surgery Center or Hospital
Anesthesia: General
Recovery Time: The patient can usually return to work in 1 to 2 weeks depending on the individual. Exercise and strenuous activity may be done at 4 to 6 weeks following surgery.
Post Operative Results: Each patient heals differently; however, following breast reduction surgery patients may experience temporary pain, swelling, soreness, fatigue, throbbing, tingling and possible bruising. The scars will fade and flatten with time depending on the individual.
Helpful Hints: Be in good mental and physical health. Help improve healing by taking pre and postoperative vitamins. Improve the appearance of small scars with topical gel.
